Like i stated before if i have the heat on in my 00 z-71 and change the temp to cold or just turn the heat down alittle bit it wont change. I fugured it was the mixing door and checked the little motor that opens and closes the temp control door. It works if i turn the fan off but with the fan on it doesnt work so well. You can see the motor start to turn then it stops I pulled the mixing motor out and it works fine. I think that when the fan is on there is too much pressure to open the door and let some cool air in to mix with the hot air.

Anybody else have this problem??

Are the new motors more powerful to handle the pressure created by the fan??

Thanks guys, I've been having similar issues with my heat control and I thought that I was going to have to live with it.

My questions are, where does this 'motor' live in the heating/cooling scheme of things? What is the part number for the motor? Is this a difficult task to get to the parts where ever they may be or do I have to tear apart the entire dash area?

Thanks for the responses.

I have the same problem. It is in the list of things the dealer is supposed to fix when they get the parts to fix my rattling steering :ughdance: . Time to give them a call and put some heat under their a$$e$ :ughdance: .

The actuator motor is on the hvac case behind the glove box area. The motor is realatively flat may 1" or so in thickness and has a triangle shape. in one end of the triangle there will be a metal hub that drives the rod that attaches to the temp door. I don't have the part number but you shouldnt have any problem if you go to a dealer and ask for the cab hvac temp door actuator motor. wires are typical harness plug. 3 or 4 wires in the harness if I remember correctly.

I have this problem too on my 01. Gets too hot and won't turn off. However, I recently had my coolant system flushed and it seems to be working fine now.

How much is the new part? Maybe worth it regardless.

Thanks,

It think it was about a 50.00 part. It has been almost year so I'm only guessing.

[i had the same problem with my '01. My mechanic father-in-law figured it was the in-cab filters and he seems to be right. I haven't had a problem since I (he) changed them out two weeks ago. It was the first time they had been changed, I have about 75,000 miles.
