Penzoil or valvoline?

IMO... Neither

I was a diehard Pennzoil man years ago. I bought a GM targetmaster 350 and after about 30k miles I decided to put a bigger bumpstick in it. I was amazed at the caking and build up that had occured in os little time. I was told that it was because Pennzoil as well as Quakerstate was a parafin base oil. I immediately switched to Castrol and have since put many miles on my vehicles and have experienced no build up whatsoever.

They may have since then I wouldn't know.

Similar experience here.... a LONG time ago.

Likewise, I don't use either.

If you have some time, you can read up some on how they compare in every day vehicles that individuals have sent in an oil analysis.

Just go here

If it was the ONLY choice I would go Pennzoil.

I use Pennzoil or shell rotella 10w-30 with a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. I use the Pennzoil filter and I change at 3k miles.

I've also thrown Murray's 80w-90 gear oil in the rear end. I'll change it before christmas because it's been almost a year since I put in my locker and I want to see how it's holding up after about 9k miles. My 94's cover doesn't have a magnet in it so it'll be interesting to see what, if anything, the break-in shaved off and left floating through the bearings.

Basic Scheduled Maintenance compensates for the cheap stuff in my mind. They all have their certification approvals on them, I can't be that far off.

At least you have a choice for the lubes you put into your vehicle... who is all this picky about the gasoline & fuel we burn? Don't we try to get the cheapest on the block in this regard??? Who has the cleanest gas??? Do you think twice if the price is right??

I use nothing but Pennzoil.

223,000 plus miles on my 'ol '88 Corsica-(without the valve covers or intake ever being off)-Nuff Sed!
