Well, I have a JL Audio 10w6 (had 2, one got stolen along with the head unit a few months ago ). I was going for good tight bass and sound quality more that I was SPL. That being said, I have been VERY happy with the sub(s). Also, since these have been out for several years, they're easy to find on ebay and such. When looking I also read several good reviews for Alpine Type R subs ... no personal experience with these, but if I remember correctly the mounting depths for the Alpines were a bit shallower than for the JL's. That may be beneficial for you with them going behind your seat. One last note, Alpine has several lines (as does JL Audio) so if the higher lines are out of the price range you still have options. :troll:

thanks for the info but ya how does the sound quality from 12s to 10s compare bass wise cause i used to have 4 kicker 8 inch subs they dint have very much bass at all but my seet was back but no bass so hard to decide

For a single cab, go with a pair of 10" Orion XTR DVC subs if you can still find them. I see them NIB on ebay sometimes for about $60 per sub. Go with a pair of these, a good sealed box, and about 400-500 watts RMS and you won't regret it. I had a setup like this about 4-5 years ago, and I had people comment often on how good they sounded. Once, three guys walked up to my truck after I had just parked in this parking lot, and I had been cruising with the stereo up. They asked to look behind the seat to see what subs I had, and their jaws dropped when they saw that I only had two 10" subs and an Orion HCCA 225 amp(about 400-500 watts). :ughdance:

Currently I have 2 JL 10 inch subs powered by a 300 watt Rockford Fosgate amp. It isn't insanely loud, but I think it sounds great. I have also had good luck with Kicker and Rockford Fosgate subs in the past. If I had it to do all over agiain, I'd get a Kicker solo baric 12 and a Kicker amp. I miss having some storage under my back seat.

alpine type r's won't hardly fit behind the seat of a single cab truck. i have a 91 single cab and they would have fit, but my knees would have been touching the dash all the time. so instead i went with a 12" kicker solo baric L5 in a 1cu.ft. box. if you want a 10 you can step up to the L7. the 10" L7 and 12" L5 are basically the same speaker (same power handling, mounting depth, etc.) and i've got a fosgate amp pushing it, dont remember which one but it's pushing out a hair over 650 watts at 2 ohms.
