House got robbed and the took my truck keys!!

My parents house was robbed last tuesday. Among the many items the theives made off with was the extra set of truck keys I keep with them. It has the keyless system on it and everything. What do I have to do to rekey the truck and how much does that usually cost? This whole thing was so messed up... they stole so much personal stuff.. they took my moms wedding rings.. they took my Dads Vietnam war medals.. I couldnt believe it! Of course the police just through up their hands and said oh well..

I think so.. I have to go out to the dealer anyway.. I just didnt want to do it ya know..

If you at least re-program the remote you have left they won't be able to search out which vehicle it belongs to by pressing the panic button. The preocedure is listed someplace on the site.

Definitely sucks. We get a wide range of targets when we get burglaries around our town. Sometimes change or currency/jewelry, other times it's games(usually if it's a friend of the juvenile resident). But then there are times when you never know what to think of their target.

Not much else they can do other then take a report, do a crime scene processing if they feel there will be enough or any evidence that would lead to the capture of those who did it, and to do an increase of patrol in the area. I'm sorry you guys went through this though.

I had a cougar but those d**n animal control people took it away!

It is an 04 z71 .. if those of you wanted to know.. Im pretty much resigned to buying a new shot gun and waiting up at nights like a crazy redneck.. but hey.. I could get lucky and hit some robber with some buck shot! woo hoo

Sorry to hear what they did, my doberman rottweilers watch over my property, and i always have a Nine handy when some numbnuts try to steal from me. My only suggestion to you is get a big steal chain and chain up your truck with one of those bulletproof padalocks, for sure no one will dare to try to take off with it.

Stole your Dad's Vietnam medals too? Man, that is just NOT right.

I have an ignition lock, two door locks, and the rear hatch glass lock assemlies with key if you need them. I bought them off of Ebay because they came with the "spare tire lock" which my truck was not equipped with. I was not about to pay $70.00 for JUST the spare tire lock from the dealer. I have no need for the other locks. If you want them. Make me an offer. I have the key for them and everything. They came off a 00 Tahoe/Yukon I was told, I am pretty sure they are all the same between the Silv's Sub's, Yuk's, etc. If you are interested make me an offer/let me know. the ignition lock I believe is just plug and play (correct me if I am wrong). It has the wire harnesses and everything as does the rear hatch lock. I can send pics if you want.

I hate to hear about thieves. Several months back I had my tail lights taken off my truck. I was heading to work one morning and when I hit the fob to unlock the door I saw the nice white light flash (instead of red)......................................

I heard about a tailgate lock the works when you tie it into the door locks I need to try that if it will work on my o1 silvy
