05 HD hood and wiper arms

Well I've had my new HD a few days now. It was time to clean all the salt off of it since the weather turned warm. Did a complete wash and wax today. One thing that really sucks is now that they have changed the hood I can no longer flip my wiper arms out to a straight position when I wash my truck. The beefed up hood is in the way so the arms don't pivot out. I'm also looking at this deep well in the hood in front of the windshield and am wondering if the snow is going to be stuck in there. But it is my first xtra cab and the truck rocks. I considered a Ford but my last two were HD's and I'm glad I stuck with Chevy.

On my 01 & 03 Chevy HDs I could pivot the arms out (I agree it makes it nice for cleaning the windshield) but on my 04 Sierra HD the arms don't pivot either and the hood would not even be in the way ???????

I guess GM must have started the non pivot arms in 04. Saving more money huh?

Yes. You have to remember to clear that area, too, if you want the wiper jets to work.

My 99 pivoted out but my 03 does not. I asked the dealer and was told this. "It was another corner that GM cut to knock down expenses, like the underhood light, shortened bodyside moldings, glove box light, tilting head rests, etc". I could mention about 20 items my 99 had that my 03 does not have and they are both maxed out on options. GM's way of upgrading the interior (reduntant radio controls, dual zone climate contro, etc.) was to cut the manufacturing costs by "non chalantely" getting rid of a ton of other options. Believe me, I find something this truck lacks of my 99 all of the time.

Yes thats one thing I dont like about my 04, I use to just leave the wipers up if we were expecting snow. Was easier to clean out the snow with them up and out of the way.

Not to mention the wipers Suck too, truck is only a few months old and I already need to change them.
