don't buy aluminum rims

Ok I am a little mad a GM right now! After bringing my 03 -2500hd in for warrenty work they told me they would replace my aluminum rims, which the clear coat is falling off of them after only 2 years. When I came back to the dealer they told me the reginal manager would not have them replaced. I called customer service and they were no help either, all they offer is a "we are sorry". The clear coat on these wheels stinks. It started falling off shortly after I bought the truck. I don't think they put it on right. I am very mad at GM right now ,I have always loved my trucks from them and never bought anything else but now I don't know.

Anyone else have problems with there aluminum rims?

That sux, for sure, are you talking about the generic factory ones? You can find a set of those cheap all day long on ebay or your local truck accessory shop. Not that it makes you feel any better about the situation, but FYI.

Had a similiar situation with the Clear Coated wheels for my Pontiac GrandAm. Went through the same run-a-round. My dealer blamed me for using incorrect cleaning solution on the wheels. The metal was fine.

My 12 year old cousin, who had just completed repainting his bicycle, unknown to me, lightly sanded down the damaged and flaking clear coat, and repainted my wheels with clear coat spray paint.

Beat-up looking wheels now look brand new. The grin on his face for doing a stellar job ---- priceless.

My realing over for wasting a good mad --- comical!

Anyway, if he can do it, you can do it. Lightly sand, clean, then spray with clear coat. I'm don't mean to make light of your situation, but sometimes it just isn't worth elevating blood pressure.
