Changing oil......

Well it finally stopped raining after almost 2 weeks straight here in whats normally "sunny California". Time to change my oil on my new truck for the first time. But wait, I cant! My new 4x4 is too stinking low to crawl under and wrench the plug off!! Now I gotta either take my precious to some $7/hr flunkie or buy some d**n ramps to "lift" my 4x!!! This is a disgrace and really pisses me off cause Im not a fan of letting others touch my truck for basic service or having to ramp my rig just to change the oil! Aw man, sorry to vent but a lot of you can probably relate...:D:loser:

Unless it was changed the ramps will be a benefit. It will keep the oil from draining on to the skid plate, big mess. That is if you have a Z-71 or skid plate option.

Get some ramps, I had to get ramps for the 2004, because It has running boards and therefore its awfully tight to get under there that way, its a lot easier with the ramps and the oil wont go on your skidplate

When I was 240 lbs, I used to only stick myself under there part of the way, and then stretch for the rest. Now that I'm 175 (hoping to get back down to 165...d!mn them Christmas cookies!) I can pretty much get in and out from underneath fairly easily...oh yea, and I'm only like 5'9"...maybe 5'10" on a good day...that helps too.

You know, I'm a pretty big guy and the only reason why I had to get ramps to change my oil was because I put step-up bars on the truck, if it wasn't for them, I could barely fit under the truck to change the oil.

It also helps that I'm 6'5" and can almost reach the plug without getting under the truck and it's not a 4X4.

That's awsome! How'd you lose the weight? I'm 5'10" and 230 (all muscle, of course :) ) and it sucks. Did you hit the road running? Pills? Diet? Surgery?

Hey 99silveradoz71-- WORD! I use ramps, too. Just for the extra space to move.

Stands for me actually, but with all the positive reviews on the Rhino ramps and their low cost, I may have to snag a set. I used them when a buddy came to town last winter. They did slide, but then again, I didn't 4 wheel it either.
