2005 GMC 1500 SLE Extended cab question.

I am looking around for a GMC 1500 4x4 with a 4.10 rear. I can't find one any where. Can you not order a 4.10 in a GMC? I did find a few Chevys, which I will buy if I have to but I would prefer a GMC. Does anyone out there own one or have seen one on the lot? In specifics I would like an extended cab standard bed with the H.O. 5.3 and 4.10's.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

I have personally seen a few new GMC Z-71 extended cabs with the 4:10 rear end. It does appear the 3:42 ratio is a lot more popular though.

I bought a new 2005 GMC Sierra about 2 weeks ago with a 4.10....around here, dealers have about 25% of the trucks with 4.10s and the rest of the 1500 models are the new 3.42 ratios.

You may want to log on to the main GMC website (GMC.com), go to

Locate your GMC

enter you desired model and Zip Code and search the window stickers for trucks on the lot in your area with 4.10s.....they are out there.

By the way, the 4.10s work great with the P265/70/17s, you run about 2100 RPM at 70 MPH.

AG Bill, that's a great buying tip! That is what I did when I was buying. Most of the dealers didn't even know what they had. I walked into the dealership with the VIN, took them 20 minutes to find the vehicle, test drove it and bought it. So you'll find the right vehicle if you search diligently. Don't let them talk you into a 3.42 if you don't want it.

My 05 GMC sierra has the H.O. 5.3 litre with 4.10 gears. This is a popular package around here, and most of the vehicles I looked at had the 4.10's. Make sure you get it the 4.10's if you want them, cause they are out there and should be available, and you may be happier with how the truck performs with the lower gears in the long run.

Thanks for all the input. When you say around here, where do you mean. Nobody's locations are in their profiles. If you would please post a zip or geographical area. I am not against jumping on a plane to go buy a truck.

Thanks again for the input, I might just order one so I can get it just like I want it.
