Just checked in to this forum. Got myself a new 05' silverado.

1500 WT package

4.8l v8

manual transfer case

cd player

Cruise control

a/c

heavy duty suspension

trailering package

snow plow prep package

I also got the roof lamp provisions with the button inside the cab...anyone know where the wiring is at in the headliner?

I really REALLY like the truck even though it's barely 24 hours old. Traded a 1998 ZR2 s-10 on it. I coulda made a great down payment with how much money I put into that zr2...numerous problem with that thing.

Congrats on the new truck!

What problems did you have with your ZR2? Did you buy it new? I had two of them that I bought new, an 00 ZR2 ex cab truck, and an 00 ZR2 Blazer for my wife. Never had a lick of trouble mechanically with them and I drove them hard and offroad. The only problems I had on both were the recliner handles on the seats (both in both vehicles) broke off. They fixed them and said they wouldnt break again. Wrong, they did, but luckily it broke off in the spot I normally like to drive in :loser: . I really loved my ZRs but needed bigger trucks for both myself and wife.

Bought it new in 98....

Oil lines to the remote filter 3 times..all leaked within 5000 miles of replacement so I just let them leak for a while. Word has it GM fixed it with a new supplier as of the last year or two.

Wheel bearings...not one lasted more than a year

CPI unit went south at 14k miles. Replaced under warranty.

EGR valve under warranty

Window outside fuzzies never really clipped on there right. I see lots of s-10s with this issue.

Rear axle seals twice (gotta take the axles out of course so diff fluid and gasket change)

U-joints twice

Rear brakes every 20k miles. Rocks get thrown up and ruin the rotor and pads. Each time at least one of the caliper slides had rusted in to the caliper and broke off. Replacement brackets and slides aren't cheap either for the rear.

Seat handles of course...twice... just used a vice grips for a while there!!! haha

One thing that did last were the tires... 65k miles out of the first set of BFG a/t's Second set still looked good at 100k miles. Over all it was a high maintenance vehicle. I was gettin' really good at changing that front wheel bearing man! My 2002 s-10 has no problems at 35k miles...been good to me so far. Previous 1991 s-10 had 172,000 miles with no major headaches either. Sold it to my neighbor...he drives it to Maryland from Ohio... no problems still.

Enough ranting....it did look great and was actually decent on a 3 hour road trip. I won't miss the wheel bearings! haha

The wheel bearings are what really P***ed me off the most.

Welcome to the forum. It's a great place to share ideas, get help, etc.

You probably have your wish list already set to go, but here's a few easy suggestions if you haven't started due to the fact that you're still grinning from ear to ear.

The search feature on this forum works real good for looking up products and issues, but if the results are too much to read, just ask away.

1). Upgraded floor mats or trays. Lots of folks here like Husky's and/or Catch-Alls.

2). Seat covers.

3). Bed protection. Spray-on liner or bed rug.

4). Splash guards.

The list goes on and on. The wallet gets thinner and thinner. But with these trucks, the smiles get wider and wider.

Congrats on the new truck. What color did you get?

It's black, dark charcoal interior. Wow thanks for all the advice here too!

I'll grab some pics maybe later today...it's supposed to be 50 here so that'll give me a chance to wash it and snap a pic. Right after I fix my missing mailbox haha
