FEEDBACK NEEDED ON GAS MILEAGE...

Recommended Posts

Just bought wife a real nice 1999 Yukon. Now...,I have a bet going on with my dad on what type of mileage wife can expect. He says I'll be lucky if she gets 11 miles per gallon. I say she should get about 13-15 miles per gallon city driving. This is a 2 wheel drive version, I had been told that the 4 wheel drive version was much worse on gas, so I stayed away from the 4 wheel drive , plus we really had no use for it anyways...feedback appreciated, :( Rob

With my 98 5.7L and 3.42 rear I get 15 around town and 23 on the highway. When I put my foot in it around town then I get about 12. I don't do that very much anymore. Really no need to. That's why I got the GTP :(

Thanks for all the quick responses, she's not too hot on the foot, it's got the 5.7 350, dont know the gear ratio though. you guys confirmed what I thought! guess, my dad's going to cough up the the fill up he promised!!! :( Rob

Slip a Wester's tune in there when nobody's looking and really blow him away !!!! You could probably knock down 2mpg OVER whatever it'll get on it's own.

And it'll haul-butt !!!!

Let my wife drive it, I bet she can get 11 mpg!! All she needs is a sponsor on the hood and a number on the door!! :(

I would say in this case, you will come out winning pretty easily!

Yeah, the key here is a 'woman' driver. My wife always manages less mpg than I in the same vehicle, same conditions. It's a fact.

My 98' Z-71 with the 5.7 and 3.73 rear end got about 14-15 in the city, and almost 20 on the freeway.

Unless somebody swapped a Big Block and 4.10s into the Yukon :D  you'll EASILY get more than 11MPG.
