Another gear ratio scenario????

Well I was all set to order a 1500 z71 crew cab with the

3:73's. (I was thrilled they brought back the 3:73)

Now I read the other post and have question?

 

3:73 or 4:10??

 

I will tow a 2500lb boat (maybe 1000 miles per year)

and may need to pull my 30 ft travel trailer. It is on a

permanent campsite but want to be able to move it if needed.

May be once a year or might not move for 10 years.

I towed the camper with a 1500Hd with the 6.0 and

3:73 it was fine unless I had strong head wind. Then

I was pulling it around allot so I traded for the 6.0 with

4:10 and that pulls it easily.

 

I know the 3:73 will be fine for the boat but do I get

the 4:10 for the chance I may need to pull the camper.

Camper weight is about 8K fully loaded.

 

I forgot to add the truck will stay stock there will not

be any larger tires put on it!

Without larger tires and the very seldom towing that you will do, I would go with the 3:73's. They are a perfect "all around" ratio.

Um, the 3.73 option has been brought back? Is that a mid-model-year change?

I'm a performance guy, so definately the 4.10's. I traded up to them from 3.73's with my 5.3 and wouldn't go back for the world. With 265/75R16 tires, I was turning about 2300 rpm at 75 mph
