Fog & Driving Lights

OK, Which brand of fog/driving light is the worst? Do any of you have any complaints? I am looking to install some light on the new PIAA Air Dam I just ordered. I need some 6" round lights of good quality.... Suggestions?

Also, does anyone make any lights that plug directly into the factory fog light harness plugs?

VR, when you get your PIAA air dam, could you tell me how the lights mount on there, or maybe a picture?  I'm wondering if the air dam has tabs something on it to mount the lights to, or if they are mounted from the bumper.

Thanks.

I have 6 pairs of PIAA 520 series on my Avalanche and a pair of thier 1100 platinum series. They are excellent lights, probabaly a little expensive for most but great quality.I am not a bigfan of thier plastic grille covers though. they are hard to keep clean.

I use to have some chrome Pro Comp lights, for the price they worked great.

I don't have mine yet, but I know someone who does, which is why I decided to get one. PIAA includes some brackets that bolt to the bumper where your fog lights are bolted now. Then you bolt the new lights to the brackets. Looks pretty solid, and not like the flimsy mounted stock lights, with their PLASTIC brackets. These are heavy steel ones. They also include a set of brackets to mount lights in the inboard openings of the dam too. They bolt to the bumper also, at one of the air dam mounting holes. The air dam itself is mounted to all the original holes from the stock dam. Just remove the stock clips and thru-bolt the new dam in place. It's a good fit IMO, and I was really impressed with the match in color and texture of the black plastic. It's pretty darn close to the same as the black top bumper cover on my truck. I'll get some pictures up when I get it in.

Could you get some pics of the back of the air dam for me when you get it on.  I'm going to get one this summer when I do a body lift and want to make sure I have enough clearance in the back for the lights.

Are you going to be installing the inboard lights, too? My whole question is how to hook up both sets of lights. I am looking to do that fairly soon, but have no expertise in wiring, really. I HAD the stock fog lights until they fell out, or got ripped out. Could I hook both sets into the stock wiring somehow?

Forgive my ignorance. :stupid:

I have a set of PIAA fog lights on my truck, mounted to the brushguard.  They work great, but in all honesty, they've kinda been a waste of money as I hardly ever use them.  $200 for lights shipped.  I could've bought some cheapo no names at Walmart and used the rest of the money on a FIPK or something -  ???

No problem. I think you'll have plenty of room for lights behind it. From what I see on my buddy's truck, there's lots of room. I'll get some pics up when I get mine installed so you can see both sides.

I have yet to install PIAA's on my truck, but of you go to my Picture trail site, I have them installed on my Camaro.

I'm running PIAA super white headlight bulbs (both low and high) and PIAA 1000x Super White driving lights in place of the cheesy pencil beams that came with it from the factory.

To add injury to insult, I wired it so that when I flipped the high beams on both the low beams and driving lights stay on.

Definetely a retina burner.

DOH!!!  Let me correct myself, I DO have PIAA superwhite bulbs in both my low and high beams in the headlights on the truck.  However, the cheap driving lights are still stock.

    • No, just straight up poured too much in. Oil level is over the "full" mark on the dipstick.   It sounds like if you do or did, you would drain it off with the valve.   I use magnetic drain plugs, so draining off any to come down to the full mark would be more difficult. The 'range' of acceptable fill level keeps from having to be so exacting with the dipstick, filling, draining, etc.
    • My take: I don't think seeing up to 200k on the odometer of any of these engines/trucks (2014-to present) is surprising. (Excluding the known DEFECTS, specifically, the 6.2 main/connecting rod bearing issues, the defective lifters, alternatively parts that a recall was issued for - I think there were three.)   250K is my line in the sand, anything over that is 'surprising', but not limited to the engine making it that far but including the truck surrounding it too. (We've talked about this in other posts, why I think the engine isn't the deciding factor for ultimate mileage.)
    • I included the first gen-cylinder de-activation (active fuel management) in my statement.
    • Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!
