6 disc oem CD player question

I may have the chance in the near future to pick up a oem 6 disc AM/FM/CD player from an 03 tahoe. Does anyone know if this unit will fit/work in my 02 tahoe. I have the single disc CD stereo in my 02 now.

The CDX from an 03 will not work with the headunit from an 02, you need a CDX from an 99-02. The ones with plastic rails on the sides are from 99-02, the ones with medal ears are from 03-05. the 03-05 models need the class II data bus wiring to function.

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure what a CDX is. I am talking about taking out my stock in dash single disc AM/FM/CD stereo & replacing it in dash with an 03 AM/FM/6 disc CD player (UC 6?) from an 03 tahoe. Is the stereo refered to as CDX or is that the 6 disc changer that you can add as a slave?

 

I am also going to move this post to post to the stereo section of the forum.

Yes, the CDX is the 6 disc changer and I thought you where talking about the slave cd player, but the 03 6 disc changer headunit (UC6) still will not replace your 02 headunit. For one the 03's are a full double din size and the 02's are a 1-1/2 Din and the 03's need to have the class II data bus system that is not in an 02 or earlier model.
