Avalanche Delivery Times

Hey to all out there,

This is my first post of a soon to be owner of a new Avalanche. The vehicle invoice has arrived but the great black hole of "where is it" is upon me. The invoice lists a line that says SHIPPED 12/10/01 with other lines that say EXP I/T 12/24/01 and INT COM 12/24/01. Chevy customer service says its still at the plant but I've read that they rarely know for sure. Dealer does not have a clue.

For those that have ordered an Avalanche or some other vehicle from the plant way down south (Silao), what is your experience in delivery time? Does SHIPPED on the invoice actually mean its out the plant door?

I've done some research into the rail shipment part but thats pretty much a dead end. I really know very little about the whole build/shipping/dealer arrival process. The Ava's coming to Indiana so I believe it arrives via rail in Chicago.

Once your dealer puts in the order you can expect 6-8 weeks until delivery. My father orders all my vehicles and he's always been right on time.

I bet you're pretty excited about your new Av. I sure hope Santa can get it to you by Christmas.

Unfortunatly I have no idea what your invoice means... sorry

Once you get it though we have a bunch of Av Savvy guys here that would love to help you out as best they can... heck, we'll all try our hardest.

However we will need more details on your truck... Z71? Z66? Color? Options? Pictures? LOL!!!

I can't comment on the invoice date, but I know from personal experience, it's taken anywhere from 13 days to 3 weeks to get an Avalanche out of Silao to southern Wisconsin. The one I bought in July took 13 days and my new one took 21 days to be delivered from the date of assembly. If the truck truly shipped on 12/10, you'd be hard pressed to have it by New Years.

I am not totally sure on the whole shipping date thing, but here is what I learned from my AV purchase.

The dealer had the order, and it was already built when I put a deposit on it. The dates he told me were a ship date, and an expected arrival date. according to the dealer, the shipping companies need to be real close to the delivery date, because the dealer starts paying interest on the cost of the vehicle starting on that day. In my case, the delivery date was a Friday, but they called me on Monday telling me it was in. This was in early July.

Thanks for the responses! I am reeeelly excited about it coming in. I've contacted an accessory shop to put some Manik nerf bars on when it gets here--1st mod. Next mod, can you hear the ole wallet going ouch!!, is to put in some HID II. Looking at some backup aids but wanna drive it some to see how well I fare.

I look at it this way, if it comes by Christmas through some miracle then I'm happy. If it comes by New Years I'm happy. If it comes even after both of those I am still HAPPY!

I loaded it up with all the goodies except N.F. Even threw in the engine heater. Its a Black Z71 with the 5.3 and 3.73's and tan interior. Not sure why but I don't see many Ava's with the Tan. How many out there got tan and how do you like it?

As soon as I get it and figure out how you guys put all the cool stuff at the end of your messages then I'll post some post-mod pics!

BTW I contacted my dealer again to ask him to go through the other Avalanche invoices he had and compare the SHIPPED date on the invoice to the date he actually had received the Ava. Unfortunately he could not find any invoices that had the date of the actual receipt written on it.

Oh well, if I could talk to the locomotive driver I would!
