GM Anti Theft Radio

My new Avalanche has the GM am/fm CD radio with the Anti-theft feature that must be turned on. I was wondering if anyone actually use this feature and if it is a deterrant for the theft or a hassle. A light next to the volume knob is suppose to blink when the car is turned off but I have never seen one work on any vehicle. There is a procedure you must go through if you ever disconnect the battery to get the radio to work again. Is it worth it?

I have done it to all of our vehicles.

the light only blinks when you enable the code

Also, if you ever forget the code, there is a way to get it unlocked anyway.

its real easy to set if you want to just look in your manual i dont think theifs want stock radios but who knows

I haven't set the code on mine either.  I tend to shy away from blinking lights or anything else in the interior.  Makes theives think you might have something worth stealing.  Once they get inside, and realize it's a stock stereo, they might take something more valuable.Just my .02

We have used the feature in the last 3 vehicles.  I wonder if the guy who has our Yukon now would like the code?

I haven't bothered.  I look at it like this, if (god forbid) someone takes the Sierra, the last thing I'd be concerned with is the crappy stock stereo system.
