pipersierra Posted February 17, 2001 Posted February 17, 2001 I read the other post on cold starting and I have a similar story. My truck is a '97 Sierra with 350 and it will crank and crank and still not catch. Today at 11:00 AM it was not that cold, the truck was in the sunlight and it would not start. At 1:00 PM it decided it would start after about 4 seconds of cranking I know it started better last winter. I run synthetic 5W30 oil and I just put in a new battery in December when I first had trouble. It was good for January and now it is happening again. Any thoughts.
Zane Posted February 17, 2001 Posted February 17, 2001 hmm, i could think of a few things here. If it worked better after a new battery, i would tend to think it was an elecrical problem. But, as in any car problem, the obvious solution is not always the right solution. Here a list of things to check. 1. Spark plugs 2. battery( yes again) 3. spark plug wires 4. fuel pump 5. fuel filter Not sure of anything else since don't have a 97 sierra to look at myself.
