Garage Mechanic's Companion Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 I am thinking about going to higher ratio roller rocker arms and I have a few questions (See my truck details in my signature). What is the highest ratio that you can go to before you run into spring binding/piston clearance issues? What sort of a performance gain could be expected? Are there any manufacturers that are recomended / to be avoided? Are there any other associated changes that should go along with this change? (I am guessing that a free-er flowing intake and exhaust system would be a good start.) Thanks in advance, Derek
mcreyaufmiller Posted March 19, 2005 Posted March 19, 2005 I am not sure about the max ratio, but I put 1.6:1 on my 305 and it runs great. The idea is that with the new rockers, it will fool the motor into thinking it has a bigger cam, the better ratio acts like a bigger cam. At the same time, I did the MSD ignition system, K&N filter and later, I did the flowmaster. This little 305 pulls like a monster!
