catch-all match fasteners

I have the catch-all replacement mats in the front of my truck.  Each mat has three fasteners that are supposed to hold it in place, but after getting in and out about three times the mat comes loose from these fasteners.  Any suggestions on getting them to stick better - or just whip out the old duct-tape and take care of them.

The anchor that screws through the mat grommet and into the carpet has to actually poke a hole in the carpet.  It takes some downforce when screwing it in to get it to penetrate.  Don't worry about your factory carpet, because when I swapped my catchalls out of my old truck into this one you couldn't tell they were there.

I should have been a little more specific.  The part of the fastener that goes into the carpet is staying put - the part that is in the mat is the one that is coming loose.  So, all I have to do is re-snap the mat into place, but I am lazy and dont want to have to do this every couple of days.

sorry Stu, I never had that problem with mine.  I wonder if you would put a small piece of foam tape or something between the top of the anchor and the bottom of the mat if that would add enough resistance to keep the fastener "locked" in place???

I had the same problem. When I installed them I really pushed down on the carpet and mat so they would fit tight .... this put a lot of pressure on the fastener.  I reinstalled the fasteners, this time I just put them in where they lined up ( Dont push down on mat)  They have not popped off since.

Thanks for the hints - I think I'll reposition the fasteners and also try and put something around them to give a little more bite - but still be able to get them off when needed.

I think the real problem is that I am vertically challenged and put alot of pressure on the mats when getting into the truck.  Once I put 285's on and eventually get a lift I will really be in trouble.
