Power Steering

Ok, I'll set this question up a bit. Here in Michigan we've had a lot of warmer-than-normal weather, and it recently has dropped back into the 30's with snow. Went out to drive my truck tonight after it sitting for a few hours, and as I pulled out of parking spot, it felt like I had no power steering. I had to use two hands to start turning, and halfway through my turn it kicked it. It was fine the rest of the drive. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? Could the cold weather have an impact? I'd never had trouble with it before...Thanks!

I have a 2002 Z71 and have also experienced this problem. Check your power steering fluid level and add some if necessary. I topped mine off and it seemed to stop doing it. I also noticed mine will do it if the idle level drops too low.

My 02 Sierra will do this also, usually when going into reverse. I always back into my driveway and when I first start back and turn it seems to have no power steering. I have checked the fluid and it is ok. But the idle does drop real low at that time.
