Wheel color??? Tire choice???

Ok heres the dilemma, in the near future i will be doing a 3" BL on my '98 Z71, possibly going with some Ford keys, and AAL or small block in the rear, giving me 4-5" of lift, which will easily clear a set of 33x12.50's (maybe 34's??) And that opens up a whole new can of worms....I need to pick some wheels out, I like the style (and price) of the black steel rock crawlers or maybe the street locks, but i'm not sure how they will look on my truck...pewter with black 2 tone....or if I should spend a bit more and get some aluminum wheels....what should I do? I wish I could find some pics of trucks in my color with black wheels

Another thing, I will need tires obviously, I want a M/T in a 33x12.50 to fit on a 15x10 rim....I want something that looks mean and performs well offroad, but also wears good on the road, I dont care about noise really...I have been looking at the Trxus MT, and some of the other Interco tires, as well as Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials, BFG MT's and quite a few others....any opinions? I hear the Thornbirds really dont live up to their looks as far as on and off road performance, so i'm really not sure about the Trxus tires

Someone help me out here, i'm tired of driving a stock truck

Can't help you much with wheel selection, I really like the way black wheels look on a truck, but that's just me. The Mojave Teflon wheels are pretty cool.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that you can't put 15" wheels on that truck. The calipers will not clear. Has to be at least a 16" diameter wheel.

I love those Mojave Teflon wheels too. If I ever get the money (i.e. a new job) I want to get those for my truck. The black on orange would be great, IMO.

Anyways, back to the original post. I am not much help on wheels, I prefer black ones. But I am on my second set of BFG Mud-Terrains and I have been extremely happy with them. They have gotten me out of some really crappy and muddy situations that I stupidly got into. You know those moments when you think...'oh, its not that deep, just a little bit of a mud puddle'...then halfway through your tire deep in mud and water...ha. :P They have stood up to the abuse I have given them. They also handle quite well on road, better then stock tires IMO.

Wingnut,I think 15's might fit,At least there are a few trucks ('88-'98 era)running around here with 15's on them, but I don't know maybe they changed their brake calipers or something.

Yeah, the 2 wheel drives came with 15 inch wheels. But the 6 lug, 4wds (like my Blazer)....I have been told that 15's wouldn't fit. I've never actually tried it though.

Wingnut,I just looked up brake calipers and pads for a '98 C/K 1500 and the part numbers are the same no matter if its 2WD or 4WD so I guess that means 15's will work.

How about that,we learned something today!

The trxus mt don't last that long. especially compared to the bf m/t. I like the look of the bf goodrich k/m's the side tread look awsome and they perform great. I have the older style bf m/t on my truck and they haven't let me down. I wouldn't get the thornbirds if you plan on doing any offroading. the super swampers ssr are really good but the price is a little up there.

Well if the Trxus MT doesnt last long, that will give me a reason to go up another 6" and get some 36-37's and some gears :P

Looks like the BFG might be my best bet, even though it will cost a bit more in the beginning
