Silverado Crew Extra Short Bed Storage

Hi all,

 

I have an ARE MX topper with side flip up windows on my '04 1500 Crew Cab with the 5'8" bed.

 

I would like to reserve the bed length for storage by mounting two wheel well boxes on each side. The problem is the commercially available solutions don't fit the extra short bed floor because of the shortened distance from the wheel well to the tailgate/bed front.

 

If anyone has done anything custom out of wood or has project suggestions please chime in!!!

I'd say build your own.

 

Heck, build twenty. Then mark them up, and sell them online!

 

Profit!

 

 

Or, you could always just go down to your local welder, and have them fab one up for you.

I ended up not buying one of those for the reasons that you mention here. Side by side, it did look to me as if the distance from the wheelwell to the tailgate was the same as a standard short box and the only shortened distance was from the wheelwell forward to the bed front. Hope that helps you on your search.

You may have to search all the aftermarket manufacturers directly to see what they're offering. I am assuming many people are looking for the same kinda boxes you are.
