I'm very new to automobile audio and I'm looking to upgrade my system. I have a stock 6-disc Bose system in the LT 1500HD.

I've been reading through posts, but am quite frankly overwhelmed at where to begin. :fume:

I'm looking for a rich, deep sound. :D I have a Klipsch THX system on my home PC that rocks. If I could find something like this for my Crew Cab I'd be thrilled. However, I don't want to spend a small fortune -- hoping this is possible. Max is $1k, with a hope of being around $500.

What are the obvious things I could do? When is an amp needed? Do I need a new receiver? What is the ball-park costs I'm looking at? Whatever I do, will need to look good, can't have any wires laying out etc.

Also, regarding installation, any shops to avoid? recommend? If I can do wiring/electrical work at home, is car audio much more difficult?

Looking forward to your replies!

Thanks!

If you can do home wiring, you can do a truck sound system that will put the home system out to pasture. It does take a little study

Ok...have done more research and have two more specific questions.

1) I have the Bose upgrade in my truck....can an amp be added to this?

2) Anyone have good results with simply adding a tub, or some type of sub with an amp already built in?

You can put an LOC on it, or better, a PAC adapter, which is intalled at the back of the HU. Gives you clean (un-bosed) signals for an amp, all 4 channels if you want them.

Don't know where you live, but I make enclosures for this app
