weird vibration

hey i just lifted my truck 6" and put 35in tires on it. when i drive 40mph i have a bad not sound but a vibration.. but its only when im going 40.. what could be the problem???

You might post this in the 4x4 section. As far as I know the GMtech doesn't get into guessing at noises on modified vehicles.

 

Have you rechecked you lug nuts? Does it happen in 2wd or 4? U-joints?

Thanks. But I'd start by looking at driveline angles if this was a suspension lift and not a body lift. Driveline angles are critical and if you just lift the vehicle and don't compensate for that, you'll induce driveline vibrations. And 40 mph is probably the ideal speed for a driveline vibration to show up.

We'll go to 4x4 with this now that we've got GM-Tech's imput and you might get more suggestions there as well.

Since this vibration happened after the lift you need to check a few things. Since it's a OBS I assume you didn't put new U-joints in. Like GM tech said driveline angles are the first to look at. A old ujoint may not want to flex like it needs to. What brand of lift? knuckle or full drop? A CV shaft for the front drive shaft may be needed.

Well believe it or not , I had the same problem and checked everthing over tim after time and the thing I overlooked was the tire balance.... turnned out thats what it was
