TxDoc Posted April 10, 2001 Posted April 10, 2001 Wondering if the 1500 is going to get the 4 Wheel Steering optiion. GM said a 2002 truck will, but not which model.
RyanbabZ71 Posted April 10, 2001 Posted April 10, 2001 look for it to be a GMC sierra or possibly a burb Rumors (strong) are that since it will be gmc's 100th anniversary they are gonna unveil it first in their trucks. Then it will trickle down to chevy.
TxDoc Posted August 3, 2001 Posted August 3, 2001 Motorweek on SpeedVision had feature on Quadrasteer. They showed a view of it working from under the rear bumper looking forward and in a parking lot. Very smooth. The strangest thing was seeing the truck travel at high speed and change direction. It did not do the usual lean and swerve move. But, instead just tracked sideways. It looked very different from what you are used to seeing. It was also shown traveling fast with a trailer and changing directions quickly. It did not sling the trailer, as you would expect. If you have SpeedVision, you need to see it, if you are interested in Quadrasteer.
76BBSub Posted August 4, 2001 Author Posted August 4, 2001 According to the GMC Directions owners magazine for Summer 2001, the 2002 GMC Sierra Denali (formerly known as the C3 in 2001) will be the first to get 4WS. The article does not specify exactly WHEN the QuadraSteer will be available in other trucks, it says only that "when the system becomes available on Sierras other than the Denali, which has standard all wheel drive, you'll be able to get it on both 2WD and 4WD models." So look for it on the new Sierra Denali in 2002. Depending on the reception from the public it may or may not make it the general line in some other model year. Jeff
illmac77 Posted August 4, 2001 Posted August 4, 2001 Id love too see 4 wheel steering on the trucks, when i was in tokyo, japan i road in a few friends cars that had it and it was so nice to turn at higher speeds and park without any worries about handling or any of the usually set backs of just having the front wheels turn iT would definitly help.
TxDoc Posted August 4, 2001 Posted August 4, 2001 "In January of 2002 Chevrolet 1/2-ton Silverado extended cab pickup buyers will have the option of adding four-wheel steer to their trucks followed by Heavy Duty crew cab and Suburban owners for the 2003 model year."
