Idiot Freeway Drivers...

Don't know where else to put this to vent.

I don't know Dodges too well, the car was only like 2 or 3 years old, had the SXT badging, 2 doors and a step up from a Neon, think it was an Avenger or Stratus. He had all the windows tinted, chrome rims and a fart can.

Anyways, I usually ignore people, but this guy really pissed me off the other day. I was drive down a 2 lane, 65mph freeway at 75 mph and came up on this guy doing 65 mph. He was in the fast lane with no one in the slow lane, except me, for a 1/2 mile either way. I was in the slow lane, because Colorado has a law where you can't be in the left lane unless passing. I didn't think anything of it and was just going to go around him.

Just as I get caught up with him he swerves into my lane, taps his brakes, then runs it up to 85ish. I was pissed so stayed with him step for step after I got over the shock of the moronic driving, more to get his plate number. When we caught up with traffic he slowed to barely the speed of the slow lane. Then sped up to 85 when we got out of traffic. This went on a couple times then I just ignored him, not worth a ticket. I just set the cruise at 75 mph and would reel him in as we got to traffic, and then he'd speed away again.

Later on got to a 3 lane area, I was about a block back of him in the middle lane and he hit traffic but the slow lane was clear. I got in the slow lane and cranked it up to 75 mph again. Just as I was 1/2 way by him he jumped all the way over from the fast lane to the slow, cut car in the middle off and I had to go to the shoulder to avoid him. Needless to say the adrenaline was going and I was pissed.

I got around him, with the luck of picking the right lane to take, but was keeping up anyways. So now I had him in the fast lane and I was in the middle. At the end of the freeway it "Y's" to 2 seperate freeways. I kept him pinned in the fast lane in the end and forced him onto a freeway he didn't want. He kept trying to force me over, but there were cars in the right lane so I had no where to go and I held my ground, there was plenty of open area behind me. For a sec I thought he was going into the concrete K-rails at the "Y". He could of gone the way he wanted, but he refused to go behind me.

Anyways, near the end he flipped me off, I just smiled and waved. Picked up my phone and dialed *CSP to report him for reckless driving. Still have no clue how I pissed him off, unless he can't stand having a truck going faster than him.

A lot of people here in Colorado, don't like me passing on the right it seems. I just get in the fast lane if I am passing someone, otherwise I sit in the slow lane. If someone is in the slower than me in the fast lane I go on by and don't think about it. I will jump over to the slow and pass someone if they haven't moved over when they had a gap to do so previously. I don't cut them off, or anyone else, and will only do it if I have tons of room. Often they speed up, cut me off, flip me off or whatever. I don't get it, I am not bothering them, not being reckless, plus they are the ones breaking the law.

Any one else get this? When I drive my Mom's car this doesn't seem to happen. All I want is to cruise at 70-75ish.

I hear what you're saying.

I always seem to get into it with people over the fact that I'm going faster than them and they won't move over into the slow(er) lanes.

I don't get it though, whenever somebody passes me on the right, they also start up with the flipping off and dirty looks and whatnot (I usually run 70-75'ish as well, Whenever I see people gaining on me I try to get out of their way, but they beat me to the right lanes sometimes). It seems like I can't do good by anybody.

Happens everywhere. There are some people who apparently have made such a mess of their own lives that they feel they have to control others. Scary thing is that people like that, who are a few cards short of a full deck, probably have a gun under their seat.

Whenever I see people gaining on me I try to get out of their way, but they beat me to the right lanes sometimes). It seems like I can't do good by anybody.

That always gets to me too. Even more so when I am signalling and they still go for it. But then once in a while they get theirs and end up behind an even slower-poke than me.

Oh, man.... this is one of my BIGGEST bitches in the world- road courtesy I don't think ANYWHERE is as bad as Houston for dumbasses clogging the fast lane

I like to think I'm a decent driver- I don't cut folks off, I ALWAYS use my blinkers when it could even remotely effect another car w/in 35 car-lengths of me, constantly scanning mirrors and all around, etc etc etc..... Probably a lot like a lot of folks here- a little more attentive, courteous to others, ya know.... like, moderately intelligent ??? I generally don't get surprised while driving by the dummy going 120 on his bike in traffic or the slammed ricer chasing him- I saw them in the mirrors a ways back, I'm good about *predicting* people's moves ahead of me by their actions or how I've seen them just driving....

Why can't the morons just abide by the rules, courtesies and LAWS of the road ?? Why do the losers think they should hold the rest of the world up just cuz they can't follow rules ?? Even worse- WHY ISN'T IT ENFORCED

Ever see those SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT signs ?? In Texas, at least, that law SUPERCEDES all speed limits. That's right, on a 65mph hwy, two vehicles pacing each other at 64mph, traffic stacking behind them- the dumbass in the left, or PASSING, lane is breaking the law. He needs to speed up and move, or slow down and get in the other lane (actually I feel he should be shot, but I guess that won't work either ). I've been stuck for MILES and HOURS on two-lanes by morons like this. Cops will steadily pass on the other side....and keep going.... I've passed on the shoulder a time or two....

Hell, once, a friend tells me about a trip he's on. Traffic is snarled like he's never seen. Finally after really battling, finds a chrysler minivan holding up the left lane, despite honks and fingers. In his back window, he's got letter-stickers that read something like, the speed limit is 65, if you have a problem with that, let me know. I'm a policxe officer. I TRUELY TRUELY TRUELY wish that had been me......

Here, how about these losers- pulling out of a neighborhood, store, whatever, car pulls out in front of you all quick like or whatever, forces you to slow or even slam on the brakes, you look in your mirror and the road is empty behind you. Then they'll generally drive slower than you anyway ?!!

Or how about the loser that, with no other cars to prevent it, stays in the right lane at the light when they had MILES to move over a lane to allow traffic to turn right on red ?? I'll dodge over to the next lane at the last 20 feet if I can. I hate being stuck behind one car, waiting to make my right, when it could have been avoided.

Okay, one more.... (I'm on a roll !!!!). Get stuck behind dumbass in the fast lane, come up on some bigger moron going even slower than the moron in front of you. You watch as dummy in front of you gets mad, blah blah, finally gets around- with you on his tail the whole time- then pulls right back in the fast lane and continues to block you.....

I guess I could go on for quite some time, I think I've seen just about every kind and type and sort of dumb, inconsiderate, unsafe, crazy, or otherwise just plain dumbass move possible in a vehicle.

There's a reason I never got a concealed permit..... I'd never make it thru the day !!!!!!!!!

Yup, all of those are everyday in good ole Houston !!!!!!!

MrQuadrasteer, Driving in and around Dallas has got have some of the dumbest drivers but the way you talk about Houston makes it seem like a pleasant drive . I do not have a concealed weapons permit or a grille guard on the front of my truck becuase I would be on the 5 o'clock news

Glad to see I am not the only one. I think drivers ed should focus on some of the driving curtiosy stuff, I don't really remember there being any of it in High School.

Down there they drive in the left lane because there turning into Wal*Mart.........10 MILES DOWN THE ROAD!!!

Pelican, I've driven in Dallas many times..... I'm not sure which is worse. Since I have to deal with my dipsh!ts everyday, I guess I'll give Houston the nod !!!!!!

Scyry, I think it's more the teacher. Our phys ed teachers taught it, they were pretty old school. They pounded courtesy into our class.

If any of you have ever driven in Germany..... my gawd. It's like driving-dreamland !!!!! Drivers will pull to the side of the road if there's nowhere to pass, to allow faster traffic to pass. The autobahn is awesome. Beside the fact of no speed limits in a lot of places, drivers KNOW and FOLLOW the rules.

America really needs to change, and more important- ENFORCE- the rules of the road.

TRAFFIC DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE WAY IT IS. How many times have you been stuck, but look up the road.... AND IT'S FREAKING EMPTY ?!!!!?

I better stop...... Y'all are winding me up !!!!!!!!!!

I think the "dumbest drivers in the left lane" fight can go on forever. I think we all need to come to an agreement that there are just more morons on the road than ever. But it is still kinda fun passing someone in the right lane, and making them look like a fool. I don't care if someone flips me off when I'm driving, unless I really deserve it. I actually had an old lady flip me off back in Indiana. We were on a 2 lane road, I was about 2-3 truck lengths behind her, and she turned into a cemetary, I saw her arm up by the window. As I cruise by, I notice she's spazzing out and flipping me off. I passed her before I comprehended what the he!! she was doing! Too bad, I would have tried to give her a pressed ham or something!

Here's some more Freeway stupidity,

1. on ramps, these people think they have the right of way to the freeway.

Causes countless OTR trucks to swerve to the fast lane.

2. You're at speed limit or less in the right lane coming upon slower traffic.

Some jerk has to be in the left lane staying with you at your rear bumper.

Mind you they were most likely going faster than you to catch up in the first place.

3. Similar to #2 but it's a OTR in the right lane approaching slower traffic. That same jerk in the left lane speeds up then stays right in the middle of the length of the OTR causing the OTR to slow down. And it's mainly when the OTR is on an incline up (hill).

I get this a lot while towing my 30ft gooseneck trailer. I'm so over it. I'm to the point that I just give them 5 second with the turn signal, then just start coming over slowly......They get the point every time.
