Aftermarket Av Bowties?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a source for aftermarket bowties for the Avalanche?  I have seen the flag one, but was interested in finding a black one to match my truck better than the gold.  It just looks a little out of place since it's the only gold thing on the exterior.  Any ideas??

You have a couple options.

A) since you already "have" the bowtie, why not just get it painted?

B) Trenz Billet I think they have this available. Their website kind of sucks but they are in the process of making it more user friendly.

Here are couple pics with black bowties.

Great idea Bill. When you figure this one out post the results. This place is full of great ideas. I just wish I could afford to do all of them.

I looked at it closer today and it comes off really easily by reaching behind it and pressing a couple of tabs.  Now I'm thinking that maybe I could get some black vinyl from a sign shop and wrap the front of the bowtie with it.  It may be a couple weeks before I could do this, but I'll post back with pics if I do.

Here's another shot of the same one that Brad posted.  (I think it's the same one)

Hmmm.. I hate to say it, but after seeing it I'm not sure that I like it.  Might still try to do it in vinyl just to see it, but since it's a lease, I don't want to spend a whole lot.  Thanks for the pics.

Ok, I got a piece of 1' X 1' black vinyl from a sign shop.  A woman at the shop tested it out with a small scrap, and it looks like the tough part will be getting the corners to be smooth.  I'll try it this weekend...  Total cost so far 5$.  (I think they soaked me on the price for that)  ;)

start from the center of the bowtie and work your way out.  then peel off the protective wax paper, and then trim and fold the edges.  It's the only way to do it w/o getting air bubbles.  After about 50 of them you get the hang of it.
