adding cabin air filters to an 04

I like the idea of cabin air filters.

I noticed the housing seems to be the same as previous years just the opening for the filters is not open.

Was thinking of cutting open the molded area and putting in some filters.

Has anyone cut open the molded plastic area where the filters are supposed to go?

After cutting is there anything different, in there, from previous years?

Why couldnt you just get the lower case from a year that had it instead of cutting yours? would it bolt up?

The air boxes are different because of the dual climate control.

I just had one out of a 04 and an 02 and I compared them. I don't hink there would be room for the filter.

Thanks for the tip. I have not seen an 02 but have heard the dual climate control was the reason the 04s didn't have the filters. Glad I haven't had time to cut mine up yet.
