long island limo accident

anyone see that meadowbook parkway limo accident?

the pickup looked like a chevy, and the guy lived from an 120mph impact, but he killed 2 people in the limo.

he basically walked (stumbled drunk) away with minor injuries. I figure the impact was at least 120mph or more.

Here's a link to pics and some details at newsday.com. Advance to pictures 6 and later for the pics of the vehicles.

I hope the guy who caused this gets a suitably long prison sentence so he can think about what he did.

I think 50 years might be long enough.

I'd vote for life in prison with NO chance of parole.

Hard to believe he survived that, even with a seat belt that looks like one heck of an impact.

My thoughts and prayers to the families of those lost.

we have all morned on long island to this tragic event with a repeat offender, who has driven the wrong way drunk 3 times before. the guy should be shot.

but an aside............

I am still amazed how this chevy truck survived the 120mph impact

Being in an accident and killing someone is onething... a terrible accident. Being drunk and going 120mph is murder.

To the guy that said "50 years is long enough". That is just crazy. The driver should be shot on site. End of story. I hope if he doesnt get the death penalty that he dies of a horrible death in prison by fellow inmates.

In Wasghinton state, someone submitted a bill that would have made it a felony to have 3 dwi's in a 7 year period. It was shot down as being unreasonable.

both cars doing 60mph, head on = 120mph impact.

that's how I see it.

the limo was probably doing 55, and I have heard 70 for the pickup.

That is just horrible.

But the guy would of had to of had his speed limiter removed to hit 120.

Not necessarily. If each car was going 60mph that would be a 120mph impact. They may have been talking about closing/impact speed.

It doesn't matter how fast, though. The guy had no business driving. And look at the result. It's bad enough that we have alcohol to worry about. And to think there are people who want to legalize other drugs for free sale. Idiots.

What a waste. I don't have an overwhelmingly great tolerance for those that drink to excess to begin with being that I often have to deal with the results of their choice. It pisses me off that the residents and tax payers are being cheated out of their right to police coverage because some drunken idiot has to make too much noise or start a fight, etc. But what gets me even more is when they get behind the wheel. I worked nights last year thru August and we have numerous bars in town that are heavily attended on the weekend nights. Cabs pass by constantly, yet some people are still too lazy, cheap, and stupid to plan ahead and get a designated driver or take a cab.

If my opinion mattered, we'd have double the number of police cruisers on the road...It'd be worth the extra tax dollars. Drivers in general are getting away with too much dangerous driving... driving with bright lights on, turning without signalling, cruising in the passing lane, "corner clipping", speeding well beyond the flow of traffic. It's got to boil the blood of an off duty officer taking his family for a weekend drive.
