Is there anyway to stop the disabling of the gps function on  onstar on equipped trucks in the event of theft.

all they have to do is unplug the onstar module or the antenna.

Thiefs are getting wise to OnStar. We had a Tahoe that was a theft recovery and they simply reached under the dash and disconnected the OnStar module. I don't know any way you could stop that unless you sealed off the dash somehow. They could also damage the GPS antenna or its coax if it's one of the type that's in the open.

Your better off with Lojack if stolen vehicle tracking is a concern. Those are hidden in random spots, not easily disabled and you can't even tell if the vehicle has Lojack... unlike OnStar.

But the PD in your area has to have the receivers for LoJack (used to be indicated by 4 little antennas on the roof of the cruiser) and atleast around here, none do.
