Lux Non-Lux question Envoy Denali HELP!

same question I came here and other forums to figure out.

 

Which AMP do I have?!

 

I have a 2005 GMC Envoy Denali with the Bose 6 disc changer XM and On-Star. Here is the confusion. I read in one thread that if the equipment list has a Y91 then I have the lux amp. Then in another forum I read that only the Yukons and Escalades have the Lux amp. Still another says that the Lux adds features like midrange, sound fields and noise compensation. Well my truck HAS a Y91, does NOT have and extra EQ or sound fields, and is NOT a Yukon or Escalade. So I ask again which one is it?

 

Please someone put an end to this debate. I have torn apart the car already to add an aftermarket DVD and would not mind getting to the amp to get part numbers if that is the best way, but I have seen no topics about that.

 

One other question, OFF TOPIC: When installing the DVD, I needed an ignition sense to turn on the unit with the electrical. I found a green and some other color(not sure the stripe color) and the smaller of the two wiring harness. My meter gave me 12V when in the ACC position or on so I assumed this was my tap. However, I come to find that this wire drops to 0 when the car is put in gear. I assume this is the lead for the nav unit to disable features when the car is in gear. If so, where can I find the wire I am looking for, and can this be disabled from the shifter (assuming it is just a switch) or is something else encoded in the data bus to disable the software?

 

Hope this is not to newbish but this was the best forum I found to post this question.

I got one to. I would say non lux. I bought a nav system that was lux didnt work. Bought a non lux it worked. You got the y91 but its not lux trust me. I got screwed thinking it was

Y91 is the RPO code for the Denali package. I think their is another code that will tell you about your radio?

Do you have speed compensated volume or a setting for AVC? My 04 had the non-Lux with speed compensated.

 

You might be able to drop your glovebox down and see the side of your headunit with the model information. Just open your glovebox partially and lift the retaining post which should be to the left of the glove box lock. It's kinda hard to see in there, but I could see the non-Lux on my gladly departed non-Lux headunit..

I don't believe the Envoys got LUX amps.

 

Even on a Yukon if you have a Y91 code listed it doesn't guarantee you a LUX amp. The only way to tell for sure is to look at the amp. It is larger than the non-LUX amp.

 

I believe all Escalades and Hummers have LUX amps.

Yeah, I think the Y91 applies to Denali versions of Yukons, etc. - those do have Lux. Haven't seen too many threads on this involving Envoys so ya'll may have discovered an exception to the Y91 "rule" with the Envoy. Regular Yukon's don't have lux and of course don't have the Y91 code - not because the Y91 is for Lux but for Denali. Does the Envoy have a separate 6 disk changer like the Yukon Denali? The regular Yukon has the 6 disk as part of the HU - this is non-Lux.
