Hi There!

I was wondering if anybody knows if the BF All Terrain TA `s 285/70/R17 will fit on a 2004 GMC Sierra. The stock tires are the Bridgestone Dueler tires 265/70/R17. I noticed that all the trucks with the 285 tire size are the Chevys and not the GMC.

GMC 1500? 2500? HD2500? 3500?

My Dad has Dick Cepek 285/70/R17 on his 2003 GMC HD2500 on the smallest set back 17x8's from Wled. We had to crank the T-bars, trim the platic part of a fender (about and 1" off at the bottom back at a angle up about 3", easy to do with a dremmel or sawzall with a fine blade), and we zip tied the platic fender liner. A 285/70/R17 is about a 33/12.50R17 to give you an idea on the size, a 285/75/R16 is about a 33/11.50R16. I can tell his tires are wider than mine, but they seem to be the same height.

You can make anything fit, just depends on your wallet and how far you want to go :D

I run a set of 285/75-16's (32.8" tall) on my 2005 Silverado 1500. THe factory tires were 265/70-17(31.7" tall). I have them mounted on a set of 16x8 Eagle Alloy 102's. The off-set placed the wheels about 1.5" further out than the stock ones. I too had to crank up the torsion bars (leveled the truck out) and then slightly trim the front air dam and tie up my inner fender with zip ties. I love the look.

If you are using the stock 16" wheels (pre '05's) and have a HD2500, you can simply crank up the tosion bars and fit a 295/75-16 in there.

I have a 2001 GMC Yukon XL 1500 with the limited slip package.

Since new, I fitted Pirelli Scorpion Zero 185-60 x 17 shoes mounted on Oz Off Road wheels with 8 or 8.5" width ... can't remember. This is the same configuration I had on my 1996 Tahoe.

Let me tell you, it makes a world of difference. The Pirelli's are getting a little harder to find and the price has jumped so I've now switched to Kumhos ( not sure if the spelling is right) in the same size. They have a better tread wear rating than the Pirelli and similar tread width and traction results. The Kumhos are a great buy.

NO mod's needed to be done to any suspension component and no changes were made to caster or camber. The tires have worn flat and true.

Good luck and enjoy.
