Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts

Sorry to ask a question that I'm sure has been covered before. I tried to search, but the search function kept freezing my computer.

I need new tires for my 2001 1500 2WD Suburban. My old tires were Bridgstone Duelers (not the same model that is out there today) and I was pretty happy with them. They lasted 45,000 miles (and I didn't rotate them religiously).

Now I'm thinking of getting a new set of 265/70/17 Dueler A/Ts (I think this is the most aggressive Dueler tread). I want to see what people think of these tires and if they have any suggestions as to alternatives I should consider.

Also, is the A/T tread pattern is too aggressive? I like the way they look, but I may be selling this Suburban soon. I don't want to scare potential buyers away.

Finally, I'm trying to compare prices between ordering online and just having a tire shop put them on. In this regard, what's a good number to use to estimate the cost of mounting/installing/balancing tires I buy over the Internet so I can do an apples-to-apples as-installed price comparison.

Thanks!!

If those duelers are the same ones that came stock on my 05 silverado z71 i wouldnt spend a knickle on them, by far the worst truck tires i have ever had! There grip in the snow and ice is pittifull and the sidewall flex even makes them worse, i can not wait for them to wear out so i can get some bfg ko's on them.

I purchased the Dueler ATs and they are not the same tire that you buy at the tire shop. These tires are actually excellant. Awesome traction in dirt and mud. But to me they arnt agressive enough lookin lol. I dont think aggressive tires will scare off a buyer. and i paid 570$ for mine.

There are 2 styles of Dueler A/T's. The D693 model and the Revos. D693 are the not so agressive ones that come standard on some models and the Revos are the aggressive ones that everyone likes. They are also more expensive.

I have REVO tires (AT)...they are excellent in all weather...I live in MA so I see it all here. They are not too aggressive, and they are quiet also...all in all the best you will find...many on this and other forums love them. Later, :D:seeya::seeya:

I have Bridgestone Deulers on my 95 K1500 Suburban and my 99 K1500 P/U (obs). They have performed well in all conditions and I have no complaints. I've got 40K on each set and they still look pretty good. I will buy them again.

I have bought tires over the Internet. Shipping was about $10 per tire, which more or less ate any savings. I have found the best way is to watch sales at the tire shops and have it all done at once.

Here's a picture of me winching a Hummer out of the mud during a hunting trip in Utah last year. I was chained because of the snow, but the tires performed well even without chains (although without the chains I may have found myself in as much trouble as the H2):

dont wanna bring up an orange in a bucket of apples but you should check into the BFgoodrich T/A K/O in 265/70/16 those are some awesome tires, i havent tried out the revos but i heard they make heavy loads handle like jello

18.000 miles on my Revo's... Look as good as new. I've had them in the mud and they do great, but no ice or snow... In the rain they are the best truck tire that I have owned to date... Highly recomend them... Agressive, but not too much and they are very quite on the highway too...

265s load range C... when the wife's Tahoe need tires, I'll be putting these on...

Exactly what i thought they must be stronger then these garbage factory ones but from what you posted they still seem like they have a side wall flex even with the revos.I know for a fact bfg ko tires had 0 problems with this on my zr2 thru 2 sets i had 0 problems and the traction was extremely good barly ever had to throw it in 4wd in the snow.Plus there is no tire that looks better then the ko tires imo and i got atleast 60k out of both sets on my zr2 which is amazing with how those s10 suspensions wear.I dont know mabey the revos are a good tire but after running with the plainjane duelers there quality has pretty much turned me away from ever buying a bridgestone product.

Thanks for the replies. As I don't tow/haul too much (no more than a couple of dirtbikes), I'm leaning heavily towards the Dueler Revos.

The tire store that had the best prices on the Revos, also recommended Goodyear Fortera (with "Silent Armor"). Any thoughts on those tires? I doubt I'll get them, but if the store is trying to sell me expensive crap, I'll take that as a sign that I should go to the 2nd cheapest store.

Thanks again.

Didnt see anyone replying to the installation part of your question, thought Id give it a shot.

Tirerack.com has a list of local installers on their website. Call a few of them up and youll pretty quickly get an idea of what it runs. Sorry I cant remember what I paid.

I just got some REVOs about 5-10k miles ago, great tire so far!

I have been a loyal BFG T/A KO owner for years but decided to try the REVOs and they are awesome. They worked in the snow great while plowing, they perform better than the BFGs in the rain and are much quieter on the highway. The main reason I bought them is they are SUPPOSED to perform well as they wear out. I haven't wore them out so I can't comment on that yet but that was my BIGGEST complaint with the BFGs, as they get lower in tread they turn into bricks and stink on anything but dry road.

I regularly pull a 4000lb+ mobile BBQ smoker and on occasion a 2 horse trailer or car trailer... The Revo's do not handle like jello... After the factory Firesstones, I too was a bit reluctant to go with a Bridgestone tire, but man, am I glad I did...

Great tire weather driving down the road or hauling a load...

I wound not recommend the Fortera "Silent Armor" I don't think they will be aggressive enough for you,BUT...look at the Wrangler "Silent Armor" My buddy just put these on his '01 2500HD and loves them and its what I'm going with if my Wrangler AT/S's ever wear out!
