Halo Angel Eyes Projectors/HID??

Just found this great forum and joined! I just upgraded my 02 Yukon for the 2005 and starting to add a few toys...wondered if anyone out there can help me out.

I love the look of the Halo Angel Eyes projectors but was wondering how complicated the wiring is? Also, how good the projectors are versus the stock headlights? I have good bulbs so the light isn't the issue but just concerned about the beam patterm. From what I have read about on Ebay ads the halos will fit the 05 yukon with a 9006 low beam/9005 high without mods to the harnesses.

The other burning question...is anyone using an aftermarket HID kit with the Halo's? I have read that the projector housing is too small to fit HID bulbs but I have seen folks with them? I don't want to spend money on both if I can't use them? Anyone have any experience at all with these in the standard Yukon?

Tips, ideas, thoughts are all apprecitaed. I would like a lot of opinions if I could. Just read another post with a black Denali with the Black Halos and it looks SLICK!

Thanks all.

all the halo angel eyes I see for sale on ebay all say NOT COMPATIBLE with HID. Use Xenon lights.

sooo....you might want to stick with Stock denali lights.

So the stock denali projectors can handle HID's? Aren't the stock Denali lights 9005/9005 for high and low? I have a 9006 low beam...so would i need to convert that harness/plug to use that denali lights?

If you have any info I would appreciate it. Thanks! I like the stock denali ones just as much!

Also, what do you mean by Xenon lights? I know what Xenon is but is that a brand? or type?

Thanks!

I changed out my headlamps to Denalis. The stock Denali lamps I got from the dealer are 9005/9005, but they came with a short adapter that plugged into the 9006/low on my truck.

lovette, thanks for the info...do you happen to know if the adpater is something you can just buy anywhere or did the dealer mention you would need it? Just curious...I think I'll try to find a set and use the HID's with the denalis instead...

thanks

The adapter came on the lamp assembly already(surprised me, I thought I was going to have to cut and splice) I've never looked at a stock Denali headlight harness, but I'm assuming they use a 9005/9006 harness just like non-Denali trucks, and the Denali lamp assembly comes with the 9005/9005 adapter jumper.

My dealer couldn't find anything under "Denali lamps", but we found out that "luxury lamps" were the Denali's.

I haven't made the jump to HID's yet, still runnin' Silverstars. Keep us posted if you get the Denali lamps and some HID's.

Also keep in mind that if the halos ever burn out--and they will...you are more or less screwed, as there is no easy/simple way to replace a burned-out halo. This is the main reason why I haven't bought a set for my truck...

Well this might help you out here. I just bought a set of Halo projectors off of ebay for my 2001 Silverado as seen here.

But these are the problems I ran into...

The wiring for the headlights is cake, takes about 5 minutes with little knowledge to do as they are just two wires to splice into. I hooked the LED lights up to my turn signals, but I had to hook the halos to my headlights as they would blink if I hooked them up to anything else.

As for the projectors I really was not pleased. It says on the listing that you can use stock bulbs in these housings... wrong answer. When they came in the mail I was going to put my silverstars in the projectors, but come to find out instead of using 9006 for the lows, they used H3 bulbs with connectors to fit into my 9006 wiring harness. The brights on the other hand still use the 9005 bulbs. I am still in the works to modify the projectors so they will fit the 9006 bulbs. The problem being that the hole for the H3 bulbs is too small for the 9006s to fit in there. Oh, and I also had to switch out the mounting bracket from my stock housings with the new ones, because the driver side projector would not sit flush with the truck and would touch the hood. And that also made the light alignment really really off.

But all in all the headlights look really nice, they just dont have the performance I was expecting. It makes it really hard to see the road at night with those tiny H3 bulbs. So when I figure out a way to use the 9006 bulbs I will let you know. I am also thinking about buying stock foglights or something along those lines for now so I can at least see the road ahead of me, lol. I hope I have been of some help for you, let me know if you need any more information

Pay $400 and get real "plug and play" HID's designed for your Yukon. Made by Sylvania, and have a 3000 hour life expectancy. A little more costly than $120 halo's, but you’ll end up spending $400 trying to convert the “halo” lights over to HID – if you even can.

They look and perform bada$$, and there’s no way of mistaking them for anything fake.

Yeah, thats the way I was going to go. Then I saw the way those projectors looked, and I thought it was B@d@ss. So I bought those with the intention of putting HIDs in there later, wrong answer I guess. So now I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, lol.
