Coil Spacers

Hey Ya'll. Got 99 GMC Sierra New Body Style...2WD with 3" body lift. Ya know how the front always sits lower than the back and I don't have 4WD so I can't adjust the tortion. I have two pairs of coil spacers I was goign to put on my old truck...but never could figure out how to put them on. Is there a special tool that you use on the coils to create cleance to put them on. They have two bolts and ends cuped for the the spring. I can't jack up the truck either to get enough room? Any experience, i'd appreciate it. Carper

Go to AutoZone and rent their coil spring compressors, you have to take the tension off the coil springs in order to get the spacer on top of the coil and mount. I did this to my 4Runner, but eventually just went with new taller coils to lift it up. That's the easiest way. I've seen some lift the truck high enough and use a long bar to pry it out, but they tend to fly out in any direction, not good unless you're wearing body armor. Chris

Hey, thanks. I may just put new coil springs on if I can find some a good price. I'll head to an offroad shop to get some help as to what size to put on it. Does the work ever end on a truck...or will there ever be anything I don't want to do to it? You truck looks sweet. Like the fender flares a lot. $300 for them all ??

Yeah, around $300. I like them alot because I don't see them much on vehicles. So it's a little different. Once you get bit by the mod bug, there is no turning back, there is always something you want to be done! I just ordered some new tires, Trxus MT's from Interco tires (same co. that makes swampers). Not that mine I have now are bad, but I'm going down in size to get better mileage! At least that's what I told my wife was the reason! Chris
