Yet another torsion bar question

Hey guys,

A bunch of people have been posting about torsion bars.  The more I have read them, the more it makes me want to adjust them.  Since the back of my truck sits up about 1-2 inches higher than the front does, I think I am going to crank the front up.  How much lift can I expect from this, and how far should I turn the screws.  Thanks for the help.

You can expect to get about an inch from them,  I wouldn't do more than 1-1/2" though because you'll have steeper CV angles and thus risk premature front end wear.  Although, given the age of your truck you may be better off getting a new set of T-bars since the weight of the truck eventually wears them down.  What you need to do is measure on both sides from the ground to the top of the wheel well, write it down.  Jack up the front end.  Give both nuts about 3-4 turns, drop the front end back down and give it a little ride to let the bars settle, measure again.  Do this a few times to get the truck level from side to side.  You may want to get an alignment afterwards to make sure you're camber isn't off.

Thanks chevy4x4trucks,

I am going to try it this weekend.  Have you ever did this before because it sounds like you did?  Anyway, thanks for the help.  I will let you know of the outcome, and I need a front-end alignment anyway.
