Exhaust issue

Hey y'all. So last night I'm driving home from work at the airport, and as I pull into my complex, the truck seemed to get a little bit louder. So, I pull into a space, and get out and look at the exhaust. Turns out that one of the pipes exiting the muffler has rusted through, and it broke free. Luckily, there were 2 hangers holding the pipe, so it didn't drag the ground or anything. It sounds nice right now, and I still have the other pipe hooked up, and running out to the back of the truck. I haven't lost any power and maybe just a smidge of torque.

 

So, here's what I'm thinking. The flowmaster cat-back that I bought about 3-4 years ago came with a 30 series muffler. I was going to get a new 40 Series-2 chamber, and have a muffler shop bend some tubing to have it dump out in front of the passenger side rear wheel. Or, I may have them cut the rusted part off, and put a small piece of tubing to the new muffler. I would also have them do the same on the other pipe, before it breaks also. I know that the second option would be cheaper, but how much power or torque would I lose by dumping the exhaust in front of the rear tire?
