Man this thing is really nuts. I hear they are shutting oil ports down and what not. I'm sure thats just great for gas prices.

I hope everyone in its path can get away to safety.

yeah, i live down in miami and we got pretty nailed from it and it when it hit us the winds were half of what they are now! not a whole lot of structural damage, but a lottt of uprooted trees. still half a million people out of power. i was lucky, i was only out for about 12 hours. this morning it was so hot and humid, i would have flipped out if i didnt have a/c. im not much of a praying man, but im praying for new orleans

... but im praying for new orleans

Tell me again... Why did I move out of Galveston and went upstate a bit????

Yeah, I think a big collective prayer from everyone would certainly be appropriate. :nopity:

Things are gonna be bad. Live a few miles north of Baton Rouge. Gets real and real scary when the local weather begins to discuss and predict loss of life statistics in New Orleans. Another issu is the number of animals that will be swept into the city. The tidal surge will bring alligators and snakes in from the swamps. The after effects will be bad. Nearly 40% of all structures will be damaged or completely destroyed. This storm is the one Emergency Preparedness have been studying for the past 10 years....never ever thought it would happen..say a prayer for us tonight.

MAN am I glad that I live in the U.P. of Michigan. I'll take snow any day!!!

Good luck to all who are in the path of that monster.

Yeah we're getting some of the outer bands right now, but nothing serious. Been pretty windy and rainy off and on all night. I hope everyone stays safe west of here in N.O.

They're calling for at least 15 inches of rain in the Tennessee valley as well, and that it'll probably be a Cat1 still when it starts to hit Ten. My power got knocked out for a little while early this morning, but I was still sleeping through it all. I woke up thinking it was 4 in the afternoon, when it was only 11. Still pretty windy out right now though.

The FL Panhandle seemed to do okay. We are still getting a lot of wind and some rain, but it's nothing compared to the West of us. From Mobile, AL on West, it is pretty ugly.

I saw some footage of New Orleans with about 8 feet of water on the roads and houses.

25,000 people are hunkered down in the Superdome with no a/c. Man, that has to SUCK! Good luck, Coon-asses, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
