Husky Splash Guards - Ryanbab

I have the molded Husky splash guards on my truck.  I took them off this past weekend for a good cleaning and noticed that even though I have the protective tape in place that they have scratched my paint.  I have left them off for now.  I know that others have had this problem, specifically Ryanbab.  I want to put them back on.  What "tape" did you use to prevent this problem.  Thanks.

I havent had any rubbing problems on the paint.  Only rubbing problems have been on the rear fender flares you can tell the plastic is scuffed.  Only way to see it is to move the flap forward or back

Anyone else have any other ideas.  I am thinking of using some of the think tape that is used for campers.
