Rear brake noise, drivers side

Recommended Posts

Just started getting noise from the rear driver's side, only happens when you apply the brakes. It's not grinding or squeaking, it's sounds like rubbing.....I have used the E brake lately, do you think it's locked up? There is quite a bit of brake dust too.

I thought I was on a role with "no problems" guess I got my confidence up a little too high.

Any opinions or ideas welcomed, is there a way to check the E brake without breaking a nail???? :driving: Just kidding........let me know what you think.....it is only out of the one side.

I had a pretty bad "scraping noise" at appx 42K miles on the drivers side. Changed rear pads and the noise is gone. I did have the rear pads changed under warranty at 18K miles for a squealing noise.

Thanks for the reply. It very well could be a pad, just sounds like something is hanging up in there when you hit the brake. I have just over 14,000 on my truck now. Guess I'll have to take a day off work to take it in, to another dealership of course. Hope it's ok in the meantime..........it's not too loud and just started doing it.

I hate to say it but my steering is starting to get that "grabby, sticky feel" You'd think GM would have solved that issue with the steering shaft. :shakehead:

Have a good night.

i had both of the e-brake clips fail on mine and it caused a scraping sound... by the time i heard it and realized it was a problem it had torn up one of the rotors so i had to have that replaced along with the 2 clips for like $450 (didn't have time to do it myself).

on a good note, my original factory pads are still good all the way around at 87K miles, and that's with a lot of city driving.
