C3 Transmission

Does anyone know what tranny is in a C3 pickup? I have heard 4L65EHD and 4L80E> Want to make sure before I get a converter to get the right size. Thanks

I would think it is the 4L80E, but what you should do is look in the glove box at the list of RPO codes, and then compare them to the codes for the corresponding year from the list of RPO codes that you see in the left hand column on this page under the "Features" section.  For example if your truck is a 2001 and the code MT1 is in the glovebox, then you have the 4L80E tranny.

Then you should have a RPO code of MN8.  Here we go again with the great mystery question...  What actually is the difference between the RPO's MN8 and MT1.  Both are shown as a 4L80E...

Our trucks have the 4L60 E-HD transmission in them. I think the 2002 Sierra Denalil has the 4L80 due to the lower rear end ratio 4.10 and the increased trailering capacity - 10000lbs. Hope this helps.

Pretty much...it's the Escalade/Yukon Denali powertrain which is the HD version of the 4L60E, or is that called 4L65?

I looked it up today, it had M32 which list as a 4L60E with Tow Haul. thanks for the help everyone. Now I wonder which converter I should get......
