oil message reset

I have a 2004 GMC 2500 HD. It has the Duramax engine. I got the truck with no owners manual. Can anyone tell me how to reset the oil change message in the instrament cluster?? Any help would be great..Thanks in adavance....

Turn key to ON but don't start. Quickly push gas peddle fully to floor three times. Turn key to off.

Should be reset.

And do a little chant while you do this. Some of these things can be a real bi*ch to get reset. I have no idea why. I've done the gas pedal thing for 15 minutes on some with no luck and had to drag out our scanner to go into the PCM and reset it that way.

Does pulling the bat cable do it ?? I'd think not...

When swapping or burning ECMs, I've noticed it usually will upset the oil life meter, but sometimes it doesn't

No idea. But I do know that disconnecting the battery doesn't do it.

hold yor breath, turn key to on not start hit gas pedal 3 times with in 5 sec then turn key off

Spend the little it costs for the owners manual. There is a wealth of info you need to know. Too bad you didnt request the book before buying your truck. I wont buy any vehicle without it.
