Avalanche Bumber Replaced.

Just had the rear plastic bumper replaced yesterday.  A young gal in a Taurus smacked my rear when I hesitated before crossing an intersection.  Caused a small gouge and crack.  Parts took about three weeks to arrive at the local collision center.  Bumper, step pad and corner mounting bracket came to just under $500.  That included a little over $100 in labor.  I’m glad she had insurance.  Her headlight and bent hood cost $1400.  

 

Then to top it off, I got a rock ding in the windshield this morning.  Well, I’m off to the glass shop for repair now.

Sorry about your mishap but I'm glad it is fixed!!!  I know I couldn't replace the rear bumper on my truck for that so I guess you have to love that cladding!!!

 

Your insurance should fix the rock chip in the windshield for free with no deductable.

I have a small (3") cut in the step part on the left rear bumper, and the insurance dude quoted $1100!!! for the bumper cover (just the plastic). The dealers body shop bought the part for me for $200, and even with $100 labor, I still end up pretty good...

Yup, $200 for the Bumper cover sounds about right.  I'm looking at the repair estimate and it lists;

 

Rear Bumper Cover $247

Rear Bumber Lt Outer Step pad $45

Rear Bumber Lt Outer Mount Brace $25

 

I'm these prices include a little markup for the body shop.  The final bill was a little more than this because the shop said the parts ended up costing more than they figured, but they are collecting the difference from the insurance co.

 

This was probably payback because the insurance company made them come down a little from the original labor estimate of 3.5 hours.  What a racket!
