i was driving the other night and really noticed the stock lights leave something to be desired, im thinking about picking up some of those projectors like on ebay but hear about all the 9005 sockets and 9006 sockets the yukon has... but my question is has anyone tried any aftermarket 9005/9006 replacements that are better? I was thinking of picking up a set off ebay but nearly all of them are for HIDs, but they don't tell you :dupe: im mainly just looking for a brighter whiter, maybe bluer light

I've been running the Sylvania Silverstars for about 4 years now and I like the improvement. Brighter whiter light over stock. One downside is the bulbs only last a year or two and they are not cheap. Sometimes I find them 2 for 1 at Pep boys.

:dupe: Hi I have the silver stars also and they have lasted me 3 yrs so far and I have ordered an new 2006 1500 silverado and this truck i am putting in a 5000K HID Xenon conversion kit from Philips I seen them on ebay 300 US but worth every penny if I get more late night light for driving . You might want to investigate this option they last a long time and run on 35w instead of 55w . and no filiment to burn out . thats my 2 cents worth hope it helps

I'm using PIAA's in my 02 Burban and have had them for 3 years with no problem at all. They definitely make a big difference over the stockers.

I would second the vote for the Sylvania Silverstars. They made a huge difference over the stock bulbs. Normally about $20 each but well worth it if you do alot of night driving.

My wife's Lexus has true HID lights. With as close as my Silverstars are to her lights I cannot justify the cost of upgrading my truck to true HID.

sweet, i think ill get the silverstars, but im thinking about also getting those black halo projector lights and converting to the 9005 sockets and bulbs and see if i can hook up the halos to the fog lights, at the same time getting the black clear corners with amber drl's or something like that... gotta save up for that though.. the trucks going into the shop for exhaust once the tips come in.. thanks for the info guys, :dupe:

I'm presently running 9011 and 9012 bulbs. Oddball looking things, they're said to be made for euro BMW's and such and are rather hard to find(found mine on eBay). They are stock wattage but are rated at twice the lumens as stock. While they are not as white a light as Silverstars I haven't had any burned wires or sockets like the high watt bulbs can sometimes cause. And they claim they will last every bit as long as a stock bulb(I got almost 8 years on a couple of those!)

They do seem to reach out a lot farther than the stock ones AND the Silverstars.
