It's a dumb thing to do, anything can happen which ususally results in a trip to the hospital, if you're lucky...

Here the laws are not too strict, but I still don't allow people in the bed of my truck unless it is just for a very short trip at low speeds.

Legal or not, the guy should not have argued with you. It is your truck and your rules apply.

my dog jumped out once when we were going about 15mph. he went head over heels and started chasing the truck after a couple of seconds. i think he learned his lesson cause he hasn't done it since

Around here, the law is No-one under 18 rides in the bed.

I'm guilty of having been on both the giving and te recieving ends of pick-up bed rides. But only on short trips with low speeds.

Doing it on a regular basis would be asking for trouble.

I have my kids ride in the back of my truck. Thing is it has a cap on it and I mounted a seat and seatbelts to the bed. Sounds like a redneck cadillac, but the kids love to ride back there. I have checked with the law enforcement in all the states I have lived in and they say it is fine. I got the seat from an s-10 and the seatbelts are GM belts. The seat and belts are bolted through the bed with grade 8 hardware and backing plates.

The seat faces forward and the cab should hold up the truck in case of rollover. Just as much as it will for me up front.

The boys like it so they can play playstation and watch their tv. even gave them a four speaker radio and cd player.

Putting your dog in the bed is worse. Amazing how you already almost lost him yet you continue to do it and act like you taught him a lesson...

Unreal :nopity:

Quote from gmcjoe: "It's a dumb thing to do"

It might be a dumb thing to do but I, for one, am getting sick and tired of my Nanny State of Maine always putting laws on the books to protect me from myself. This great country has too many people who think the government knows better what we want than we do. :nopity: Please note my icon in the left corner. It is translated: No Liberals

Let the people who ride decide!

If someone gets hurt, then it's their own stupidity that got them there so let them pay for it. I can take care of myself, thanks. I hope others are allowed (required) to do the same!

OUmike,

Will try, but not too computer literate. I am on the east coast now so we are getting soaked. I was planningon detailing the truck this weekend and trying to post for you all. Hope the weather breaks.

GMCjoe... :D wtf? Never understood why people get their panties in a waad over dogs being in the bed :D . I am sorry but if I just got through hunting and my dog is muddy and wet, oh sure she can sit right in the drivers seat. I don't mind at all. :chill::nopity:
