Know the amps of the factory fog light wiring?

Does anyone know the maximum wattage fog lights that can be run on a 2000 sierra?

I have the wiring and switch factory installed and want to add a pair of running lights. My truck is at my hunting camp and I can't check the amps of the fuse.

A helpful guy here in another post broke down the formula to me as to what wattage I can run on this 12 volt system, but I don't know the size of my fuse and can't find a chart on line.

Has anyone added anything larger than 55 watt lights?

The fuse size should be 15A.

I took off my useless factory fog lamps and replaced them with 55W aftermarket lights.....twice as bright now, no problems untill tonight.

... it's blowing fuses now (I'm at work and it's snowing like crazy) and I don't know why, they worked great for the last 2 months.

Any thoughts on what to look for ??? Change the relay ? The wiring to the lights is still in good cond.

Hella Optulux (sp?) ....a cheaper Hella line but they fit in the hole and make a noticable improvement.

I found the short inside the light housing, I should have returned them but I just fixed it up myself, I'm just glad it wasn't some other more serious electrical problem with the truck itself, all is well now.

I did have to drive home from work in the blizzard like condititons without them though :wtf:

The new BFG A/T's made up for it though and work great in 12" of fresh snow

Sounds like the system didn't like the change and somthing has a short. Good Luck.

I know it is a little late now but when going to aftermarket lighting DO NOT use the light azz guage factory crap. When you try to "cheap" out things usually seem to bite ya in the butt.
