G80 clunks when locking

I just read

And it says

 

"Automatic locking takes place within a fraction of a second, so smoothly that it is unnoticed by the average driver."

 

Well, when I'm off roading, and slipping, I can hear and feel a clunk when it engages. I know it does because I get moving again. But is it bad that it clunks?

I hear mine clunck, but aside from the truck gaining traction, I don't really get jolted or anything of that sort. So, I'd say that mine operates smoothly

Well, it "jolts" for me because I'm reving it, and my back tire is spinning, not going anywhere, but then it locks and I'm moving forward pretty fast. I guess the jolt is from inertia, not the G80...

The G80 clunk is smooth when compared to a Detroit Locker. A hard (harsh) G80 clunk is a sign of worn clutches. The clutches engage before the govnering rod engages both shafts to smooth engagement.
