Fender Flares

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am in the market for a new Sierra Z71 and I noticed that some come with color matched fender flares, others without the fender flares. I like it without personally. Can you remove these with ease and is there anything required after to finish the look. Paint etc... I noticed that the trucks without the flares have what looks to be holes for installing them and wondered if you unscrew them, would the two trucks now look the same. Would save some time not having to wait for a truck to come in without the flares.

Thanks,

Bruiser

There is double sided tape that holds them on as well as the plastic plug type fasteners along the fender edge (where the holes are). There may be a slight difference in paint color due to not fading under the flare. Might be dirt/crud/wax/minor surface imperfections as well. It can probably be done with minor polishing and waxing.

BRUISER.............Go for it with NO worries !

They come right off with the help of a hair dryer.............

I pulled the fugly things off my 01 and 04s with no problems

and NO color difference. If they were body color or painted

I would of left them on...............geo

And that's why mine will never come off. Whomever installed mine, didn't put the tape on, so they moved and flexed over time. There are spots where they rubbed through the paint, so I touched those up, and taped it down. But it would look like total a$$ if I removed them now. Good thing I like them.

If they were installed properly, and the truck isn't faded, you shouldn't have any worries in removing them...You also shouldn't have any problems selling them. Those things are a hot commodity 'round these parts.

Welcome to the boards, by the way.
