Alright numbnuts, this is the one and only warning I'm giving you on the issue: KNOCK IT OFF OR GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. This type of crap is unacceptable. If you don't like the response given or amount of time it takes then find another board that you can grace with your presence. Jackass. -Frank

Maybe the guy is pinchin a loaf, maybe the guy is on vacation, maybe he is home drillin the old lady, maybe he is actually working and does'nt have the time right this second to reply. I am sure he will reply, just be patient. You posted your original question today at 10:37

On to your question,I consider it normal,A lot of the cars/trucks I see in here at the dealership have soot in the tailpipe.

Normal for GM?? Definetely not normal. I shouldn't be able to dig out the soot with a tea spoon, as I could with mine.

Maybe you could start out by explaining WTF is going on with your truck....saying my truck has soot in the tail pipe :D doesn't really say anything....

What engine ? What gas ? What kind of scenario , high load, low load, idling...??

Diesel ? Gas ? How many miles ? Brand new ? Used ?

Why are you worried about your tail pipe showing signs of soot...? Are the neighbors complaining of the black cloud when you drive home from work ?

Far as quick response....give GM-Tech a break, he's trying to help US and we can do him right by asking specifics.. ...not my tail pipe is black what do I do.....

Its a 5.3 LM7 motor, 4.10 axle, tried many different types of gas and octane levels, and same results. The vehicle severely pings above 60mph, and the soot in the tailpipe would indicate that its running rich which would explain the ping. However, it doesn't show any abnormal codes. NO load or towing, other than 200 miles per day hghway driving between 65 & 85mph. Does not burn oil, and gas milage ok.

I'm worried as I don't want to have issues when warranty runs out. I do roughly 1000 miles per week.

Is it under warranty? If it is, bring it to the dealer.

**just noticed it's still under warranty**

...could just need a tune up, timing...

my truck also has some soot in the pipe, doesn't knock or ping though.

Do I really need to put up with this crap? I deal with you whiners every day, I don't have to come here and do it on my own freetime for nothing.

You don't like the answers, go pay for it and don't bother me.

Ok, we're done with thiss post. The tone of the topic here is complete bs. Gm Tech takess the time out of his day to be on the forum and answer these questions to the best of his ability. Some respect is definitely deserved.
