keyless remotes

just picked up my new truck on saturday! the keyless remotes come with numbers on them to match the memory seats - or at least thats what they are for on our envoy. the remote with the "1" on it chages it to driver 1 settings, "2" to driver 2's settings.

They do not seem to work that way on the sierra. On the envoy, you set it for that in the DIC controls, but that doesnt appear to be an option for the sierra.

Am I missing something or do the remotes not work in that manner on the Sierras??

I have the same question you do. I was under the impression that when I unlocked my truck with my particular Key Fob #1, that when I started the truck the memory seat would automatically adjust to my pre stored setting. And Likewise if my Wife used her Key Fob #2 it would automatically adjust to her setting as the truck was started. But what I have discovered is I always have to push the #1 on the door to bring the memory seat to my pre stored setting. :D

There was a change for 05'.  Not sure why they didn't remove the #1 and #2 off the fobs.  I believe there is a TSB on the subject.

does the tsb make it so the remotes activate the memory seats - or does it remove the number off the remote?

I have an 03 denali and its works the same only switches the driver 1 and 2 setting when you press the button on the door. The remote seems like it had no prevalance.

There was discussion on this awhile back. You'll have to do a search on the forums. Most of us have come to the conclusion that GM had a bunch of spare keyfobs laying around and decided to use them even though they didnt recall the seat position li¬I«®hey used to. Hope this helps.

The 1 and 2 memory recall on the fobs went bye bye with the 05's. My uncle bought my identical truck last year except a black 05. Mine is an 03. We found about 5 or so more options that mine had and his did not. For example when either of the doors are open and the power lock switch is locked, the chime sounds and it waits a few seconds to lock all four doors. This works great because my son is slow at getting out. His, just locks. Also, the DIC is a few bells and whistles short. No cloth on the upper door panel. etc... etc... VALUE ENGINEERING. :D
