O.K effective this morning I am officially canceling my subscription to Motor Trend. Why dont they just come out and say that the are a Pro Japanese publication! Hell change the name to Japanese motor trend magazine. This truck, uhhhh I mean truck look alike because lets face it, the Honda Ridgeline is nothing but a car with bodywork to look truck like. It has all the appeal of a wet fart in church. ARRRGH! It makes me want to vomit!:cheers::cheers::P

You have to look at what was tested.

"The 2006 Motor Trend Truck of the Year competition included the following models: Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Ram Mega Cab, Honda Ridgeline, Isuzu i350, Lincoln Mark LT, and Mitsubishi Raider"

They only test new models or redesigned trucks(which is how the dodge made it. New front end, new suspension)

Not an impressive list if you ask me.

I could not have said it better.

Motor Trend has been bought off so bad, it is soooo obvious.

They are just a mouthpiece for imports.

My favorite  is Car and Driver, they are so anti GM it isn't even funny, the only thing they like is the Corvette... The only magazine I really enjoy is 4 Wheel and Offroad, although I do get tired of reading about Jeeps all the time. At least there is here, nothing but Chevy's.

I am canceling my MT and TT subscriptions soon. I was planning on doing it sooner, but haven't had a chance. C&D sucks too. I'd rather spend my $$ on hunting/four wheeling magazines, than some stupid pro-Jap advertisement.

First off, I know I am going to get drilled for saying this but...The Ridgeline is a good truck.

Let's be honest. For hauling stuff from the Home Depot or Pier 1 the Ridgeline is a great truck. I am a newbie here, but I am guessing most people here on this sight actually use there trucks for work or offroad with them. The Honda probably isn't built for that. Most people don't use their trucks for that though. How many soccer mom's (no offense intended) have you seen driving Suburban's? Think those trucks have ever seen a trail? I doubt it. The Honda is what it is, and the Chevy is what it is as well. Just because it isn't everybodys vehicle doesn't make it a bad vehicle.

If you sell your GM truck to buy a Honda you will go to hell. :D

Its in the Bible, in the back near the maps :D:D:flag:

First Welcome cburnscrx. I will start off by saying Honda makes a great product. I will also give you my opinion on the ridgeline. I consider "it" and it's "model" (avalanche)a suv, not a truck. I'm sure as a station wagon Honda makes a great one. I guess it's just so one-sided in the mags that it pises people off.

Here is there list of choices for tuck of the year Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Ram Mega Cab, Honda Ridgeline, Isuzu i350, Lincoln Mark LT, and Mitsubishi Raider. So now we have Honda saying our truck is the best while being tested against the worst. We are griping about the unfairness og the magazines not Honda quailty. And I agree the honda will work perfect for soccer moms or those that buy them.

Just Not my cup o tea.

Listen, Motor Trend has proven time and time again to be biased against American automobiles. Even in the rare instance that they have chosen an American vehicle they still overly praise the Japanese competition, even if the bastard caught on fire they would praise the quality of heat that was obviously due to the superior japanese engineering! I have read articles that during the whole thing their Pie charts and graphs prove the American vehicle to be far superior only to come to the end of the article and see them choose the foriegn vehicle for no other apparent reason to me than it "looks cool". I for one am tired of their Japanese felching. If they want to suckle japanese anus then let them do that, I for one will not subsidise their American bashing a$$es by buying their rag.

I don't think there's any chance I am selling my truck. I just got it and I paid $2 for it. No chance of that happening :)

I guess you said what I was trying to say, only better...Dooh :D I didn't figure too many people here would even consider a Ridgeline. A V8, a frame and 4x4 is probably what most of you have here. Something like a Ridgeline wouldn't fly and shouldn't for what you are trying to

I heard about Motor Trend and some of the other car mags praising the Honda Ridgeline. Personally, I don't like it. I think that Honda is better off building cars, in which that they are the best in doing. I am not surprised that magazines like Motor Trend are praising that Honda truck. That thing is a high-revver, like a car. It reminds them of an Accord and it is why it gave them the Truck of the Year award. If they are an American magazine, they at least would try to encourage the US auto makers to make better vehicles, in which I believe that all of them are succeeding in. I bet that thing couldn't even pull a car if its life depended on it. Car and Driver is similar to Motor Trend, even though they vehemently deny it in their magazine. They aren't into trucks. That is why I read Four Wheeler, which talks and features all kinds of trucks and SUVs. I hand off my hat to the seasoned truckmakers, American and Japanese, for making real trucks, with a real frame that will stand up to real abuse. I would be horrified if Honda built a truck like a Silverado. Anyway, I think that I have ranted enough for today. Holla. :D
